About Us
Hi, my name is Craig. My wife and I manage this site together. Ever since I was young, I’ve been working with or have been around people who worked with wood. My Grandfather was a General Contractor and my Dad worked with him for a while learning to build homes. After that my Dad was always finishing or working on whatever home we lived in. He did things like finishing the basement or remodel a room. I’ve worked in a woodshop, a cabinet factory, a glass shop and an engraving shop all of which I feel blend with my craft work. My education in this area includes two classes in woodworking in junior high and two classes of advanced welding and machine shop in high school. I’ve had a few art classes while attending school and I've won a couple of art contests which helps with designing or drawing some of my shop items like the rocking horse head and the kitten and puppy bookracks. I have also worked in the accounting field for over 18 years and have 5 tax seasons with Liberty Tax Service preparing taxes. So as part of this organization we offer accounting and tax services along with other services at a reasonable price. To learn more please see our description below.
Advantages of Club Membership
Local Suppliers:
Most retailers receive product from supplies located in various areas throughout the world such as the US, China, Mexico, etc. Our plan is to buy our merchandise from each other rather than from these types of sources which will give us greater control over selling and receiving product in a timely manner. The difficulty with this idea is finding other crafters and that is where the club comes in.
Savings on shipping:
Shipping is another area where savings can be made with our system. We only work with local crafters so you don't have to worry about import or export duties, changes to shipping laws or taxes of other states or nations. Local sales taxes are about your only concern and those don't apply until the product is sold. Many of my wood products double or more in price when shipping is added and when you add packaging time, finding or buying packing materials such as peanuts, boxes etc. the savings become obvious.
Business Operations are Less Stressful:
When problems do arise resolving them are far less difficult because you are more easily able to contact those involved and work out a solution to the problem. Working with local people you have meet and know or can meet with if needed is far easier than working with people over the phone that you've never meet in distant places you may have never been too and probably don't know anything about their customs and business ethics can be beyond stressful.
Club Rules:
These are the rules we have set up at this time but we are having a debate on our blog page over any additional rules we should add. Thank you, (Club Management):
- Crafters are responsible to arrange for delivery or shipping their products to each other.
- Crafters need a hobby to be a member of our group.
- We only deal with durable goods. Limited food items (dried).
- We do not arbitrate disputes or deals between crafters that go wrong or badly.
